About Nina Nesbitt

Nina Nesbitt is a Scottish singer, songwriter and producer known for her captivating pop hits and writing contributions for artists such as Jessie Ware, Don Diablo and Olivia Holt. Despite not coming from a musical background, she began teaching herself guitar at 15 and later picked up piano and flute. Her music career took off when she uploaded a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Fifteen” to YouTube, inspiring her to write original material. A chance encounter with Ed Sheeran in Edinburgh led to a pivotal opportunity—after hearing her play, Sheeran invited her to join him on his European tour. Nesbitt released her debut album, Peroxide, in 2014, which reached No. 11 on the UK charts. After parting ways with Island Records, she signed with indie label Cooking Vinyl for 2019’s The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change. In 2022, she released Älskar. "I wanted to write about love in all its different forms,” she told Apple Music at the time of its release. In 2024, after leaving London, her home for the previous decade, for the countryside, she put out Mountain Music, which she said was "about embracing exactly who you are and being OK with it.” In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Since a young age, I loved writing poems and fictional stories and singing along to Eva Cassidy and ABBA in the car. I was given a keyboard when I was 10, started putting my words to chords and haven't stopped since. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There’s been a few but singing on stage with Coldplay at Hampden Stadium has to be up there. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’m excited to be releasing an album through my own record label, Apple Tree Records. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. “Pages” Taken from my album Mountain Music. It’s one of my proudest lyrical moments and I feel like it captures my twenties in a honest way. It marked my return to writing songs alone with a guitar or piano in my room and focusing on the storytelling. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Bon Iver, For Emma, Forever Ago This album soundtracked my teens. Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill She inspired me to write the songs I was afraid to write. Joni Mitchell, Blue She paints pictures in my head with her lyrics.
